Voice of Russia has an exclusive interview with Mark Mason, political and social analyst from Los Angeles, California. Americans feel increasingly unhappy and neglected by their government and are losing interest in who and how is running their nation, opinion polls show. Why could that be and where could it take America? The expert believes that "The US has never been a democracy. It is a culture that is characterized by authoritarian institutions. According to a recent academic study that compared the US government policies with public opinion on those government policies over a period of 20 years, there is no connection whatsoever between what 80% of Americans want and government policies".
Here’s feedback we have already received from our readers and listeners:
Gadija Essack believes:
"Americans are suffering because their government gives $3billion to ... Israel and lets the US citizen lose their homes, jobs and raises the debt ceiling. Americans biggest problem is that ... the ordinary US citizen is being brainwashed by islamophobia and led to believe muslims are the enemy."
Rosey Mc. Donald has another opinion:
"Muslims aren't the problem, the problem is the term called apathy...the land of the Ostrich...I am an American Indian...not one treaty has been followed....when we were invaded 500 years ago my people were 11 million when I was born off reservation we were 200,000...this is an invaded land now run by corporations that care not for its people....they are made passive by television and news that is pre-digested and regurgitated by the media....I am an American, but I am an Original American... Please understand the Americans are not the evil one, they are brain washed and given polluted water, pharmaceuticals, and educated not to think..."
Lori Stuart also commented on the fate of Native Americans:
"US committed GENOCIDE against Native Americans in the 1800s. The allegedly welcoming plaque on the Statue of Liberty was a way to invite white people to come and fill in the western territories emptied by the deaths and reservationalized tribesmen. Also the US used to only allow western and northern Europeans, then finally southern later eastern, eventually middle eastern then others. It's an ugly story."
Paul Dicandia has a different opinion:
"Indians lost their land through war and selling off land. …. The bill gave them access to land they considered sacred. Bottom line, if they wanted to keep their land, they could have fought harder. They didnt have any problem wiping out other tribes. Instead, they choose to live on reservations because they get free housing and government checks. In fact, the tribes that have refused government handouts and assimilated have done quite well for themselves. If you choose to hang on to your inferior culture, you cant complain when life sucks for you."
