Connecting you with the world around us Radio VR's 'VR Connect' with Peter Lekarev. Let's kick off with exclusive interviews on the current standoff in Gaza with Palestinian Ambassador to Russia Fayed Mustafa and spokesman for the Israeli Foreign Ministry Paul Hirshon, right here, on Radio VR. Fayed Mustafa, Palestinian Ambassador to Russia, said during our Red Line broadcast that unless political solution is found, Israel will continue to launch new assaults and operations like the one currently underway are bound to repeat. He clarified that political solution involves doing right by the Palestinian people meaning that an independent Palestinian state with a capital in Jerusalem has to be established.

How Can the New Palestinian Crisis be Resolved

Here's what our readers think:

Sasha Makela wrote:

“There's no military solution to this conflict. There's blind hate on either side of the conflict. The precedent of Chechnya should be used as a model for establishing a long lasting peace. “

Steve Wojcyk from Canada wrote:

“I just saw the CBC news and they reported that Israel may be breaking international law by bombing the Palestinians but no mention is made of the criminal bombing and attack of Poroshenko on his own people in the east of Ukraine. In fact our foreign minister is blaming Russia for the violence because of 23 Ukrainian soldiers that were killed without any recognition of Poroshenko's criminality, or the fact that it is also breaking international law. Our gov't should be focused on the jobs report which says that we have lost the most employment since 1976 in Ontario which is our manufacturing hub but it is easier to focus attention on situations outside the country and not face their failure in not being able to provide a better economic climate for business.”
Meanwhile, we have a Burning Point issue where experts are discussing the latest round of sanctions imposed by the west against Russia. Dr. Richard Wellings, Deputy Editorial Director at the UK-based Institute of Economic Affairs says: “It’s very bad news, if the sanctions were to escalate. The amount of trade between the EU and Russia is very large – ten times the size of trade between the US and Russia, which means that the EU countries have a lot more to lose than America does from imposing hard sanctions. Trade with Russia has been a major source of growth for the last decade, this is a potential source of further growth for the future as well, whereas trade with America is much more stagnant, and the US power is really declining in terms of its relative weight in the global economy.”
