Ukraine as Russia's neighbor seems to be looking forward to creating a joint military unit with two NATO member countries - Poland and Lithuania. Concerns of Ukraine seeking further integration with NATO were voiced in the past. Would this new decision imply that NATO is openly stepping into the internal Ukrainian conflict? And what kind of missions would the unit be engaged in, if it is created? Radio VR discussed it with two leading political analysts on our Burning Point program.
Here's what our listeners think:
Roman Belkin left an extensive commentary:
“...EU doesn’t consider interest of Russia in Ukraine, doesn’t try to make agreement about mutual entrance to EU and to CU (Eurasian Customs Union). Demand firm answer and break Ukraine. Of course in Ukraine there are people who believe in EU and who believe in CU (in Russia). Indeed, there is survey, 45% believe in UE, 38% in CU, approximately. And democratic Europe even did think about this 38%, that their economic would crack after association with EU, could not and didn’t want afford them something reasonable. In the agreement of Association with EU there is nothing about integration of old and building new plants and work places, there is only who, by what and how can trade. … If EU could have afforded acceptable plan for integration in CU and EU, there would have no Maidan and no war and now airplane crash. So, this is because of greedy of EU, because of self-confidence in its sinless, that it is the best, that any union is worth rather than with EU.”
Meanwhile, the Donetsk People’s Republic authorities handed over two flight data recorders recovered from the crash site of the MH17 Boeing plane to Malaysian experts, which prompted a vocal discussion.
Izzudin Ishak wrote:
“You know what's wrong with pro-western media? They accuse Russia, said that the blackbox has been stolen, all the bodies are carried away to unknown place, which are all false. Now, who's wrong right now? “
Simon Wolfers chimed in:
“Good move. Let’s hope those experts haven't already been bought off. “
Zulhelmi Effendi Zulkifli added:
“I can feel that people's republic of donetsk are on the right side.. They have nothing to proof that they are wrong.. Thats why they handed the black boxes to malaysians.. Our people from malaysia felt very thankful... “
