MOSCOW, July 25 (RIA Novosti) – Colleagues and friends of Russia Today (RT) contributor Graham Phillips told RIA Novosti Friday they cannot yet contact the journalist.
“We cannot yet establish contact with him, moreover, the [UK] Foreign Office has not yet confirmed his release,” RT journalists said.
Phillips is a UK citizen and works as a stringer for Russia's RT channel in Ukraine.
According to the Ukrainian media, Ukraine’s Security Service detained Phillips in Donetsk and deported him denying access to the country for another three years. These reports are currently being verified.
Earlier this week, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that four journalists, including Graham Phillips, went missing on Wednesday in the area of eastern Ukraine where military actions are taking place.
Moscow stated that the reporters are currently held hostage by the Ukrainian army. The Russian Foreign Ministry demanded their immediate release.
