MOSCOW, July 27 (RIA Novosti) – Malaysia and the authorities of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) have reached an agreement, granting international police forces access to the MH17 crash site in Ukraine, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak said in a Facebook post on Sunday.
“Malaysia has secured an agreement with Ukrainian self-defence forces, who control the area around the MH17 crash site, to allow a group of international police personnel to enter the area in order to provide protection for international crash investigators,” the statement reads.
“I hope that this agreement with Mr Borodai [DPR Prime Minister] will ensure security on the ground, so the international investigators can conduct their work," Razak elaborated.
Last week Razak and Boroday secured the first agreement on the investigation of the accident, which included three key provisions – transferring the black boxes to Malaysia, removing the bodies of the victims and ensuring full access to the crash site.
Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 en route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur crashed near Donetsk on July 17. All 298 people on board, including 283 passengers and 15 crew members died.
On July 21, the UN Security Council unanimously adopted an Australia-led resolution calling for an international investigation into the circumstances of the tragedy and full and unrestricted access to the site.
