KIEV, July 30 (RIA Novosti) – At least 363 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed and over 1,400 others injured since the start of Kiev’s military operation against independence supporters in the southeast of the country, the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine said Wednesday.
“Since the start of the anti-terrorist operation, 363 Ukrainian servicemen have died, and 1,434 have sustained injures,” spokesman Andriy Lysenko told a news briefing in Kiev.
According to the latest UN report, the conflict between pro-Kiev forces and independence supporters in eastern Ukraine has claimed the lives of 1,129 civilians since mid-April, with another 3,442 injured.
Moscow has described the ongoing military action as a punitive operation and has repeatedly called on Kiev to put an immediate end to the bloodshed.
