MOSCOW, August 4 (RIA Novosti) – At least 10 Palestinians, including one child, were killed in Israeli airstrikes throughout the Gaza Strip early Monday, Agence France-Presse reported citing local medical sources.

According to Gaza emergency services spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra, five people died in the northern district of Jabalia, another three were killed in the neighborhoods of Zeitun and Sheikh Radwan. One person lost his life in the refugee camp in Nuseirat, while a child died in the southern city of Rafah, where Israeli army conducted shelling near the UN-run school earlier Sunday.

Ashraf al-Qudra added that the Palestinian death toll from the ongoing military operation thus has risen up to at least 1,822. Israeli side had lost 64 soldiers and three civilians.

Earlier Monday, Israel Defense Forces announced a seven-hour truce in most of the districts of the Gaza Strip. The humanitarian pause is expected to begin at 10:00 a.m. local time (07:00 GMT) and last until 05:00 p.m. local time (14:00 GMT). The army officials noted that the ceasefire will be in force in the entire territory of Palestinian enclave, except for the districts east of the city of Rafah in southern Gaza, "where clashes were still ongoing and there was Israeli military presence."

Israel has launched Operation Protective Edge on July 8 to put an end to rocket fire from Gaza. On July 17, the Israeli Army switched to a ground assault largely aimed at locating and destroying rocket launchers and underground tunnels.
