MOSCOW, August 6 (RIA Novosti) - The political line chosen by the United States regarding Russia resulted in undermining the levers of pressure on Moscow’s foreign policy and not vice versa, the head of the State Duma foreign affairs committee Alexei Pushkov wrote on his Twitter account late Tuesday.
“The current political line of the US did not strengthen, but rather weakened its levers of pressure on Moscow’s foreign policy. It will no longer look back at Washington,” Pushkov wrote.
Since the very beginning of the Ukrainian crisis, the US started to accuse Russia of supporting self-defense forces in the country’s east, who did not accept the legitimacy of the new country's authorities. Moscow said many times that it was never a part of Ukraine’s internal conflict. The US imposed sanctions against a number of Russian officials, businessmen and companies, while pushing the European Union to do the same.
