ALPBACH, August 24 (RIA Novosti) - Austrian President Heinz Fischer said Sunday that relations between the European Union, Russia and Ukraine have to cool down.
“I hope that Russia will not make any steps that could be considered as provocative and the temperature of relations between the EU, Russia and Ukraine return to normal,” the president said at a European political forum in the Austrian town of Alpbach.
The European Union, Russia and Ukraine “have to meet on equal terms and discuss seriously their security interests,” Fischer said, adding that any politician should “know how to turn a chess board and think with your partner’s head.” Such attitude is crucial for the sides discussing Ukraine crisis, according to the Austrian leader.
