MOSCOW, October 4 (RIA Novosti) - Four-time world Formula One champion Sebastian Vettel is set to leave the Infiniti Red Bull Racing team at the end of the season to join its rival, Ferrari, AFP reported on Saturday, quoting his team principal Christian Horner.
"Sebastian Vettel has advised us that he will be leaving Infiniti Red Bull Racing at the end of the 2014 season", AFP announced, quoted a Red Bull team statement.
"We're pleased to announce that Daniel (Ricciardo) will be joined in the team for 2015 by another rising star from the Junior Program, Daniil Kvyat," it added.
"Obviously Ferrari have made him [Vettel] a very attractive offer, " Christian Horner told reporters at the Japanese Grand Prix in Suzuka.
Vettel ,27, chalked up 38 wins and 44 pole positions with Red Bull as he became Formula One's youngest world champion and only the fourth driver to win four titles.
He is currently fifth in the standings after a winless season in which he was outshone by Australian team-mate Ricciardo's outstanding first year with Red Bull.
After his departure, the Infiniti Red Bull Racing team will be joined by young Russian rookie Daniil Kvyat, who debuted in the 2014 Australian Grand Prix as a Toro Rosso team driver.
"We want to warmly thank Sebastian for the incredible role he has played at Infiniti Red Bull Racing for the last six years," the Red Bull statement raid.
The transfer, however, is feared to trigger a merry-go-round of team switches, with Fernando Alonso’s future at Ferrari a hot topic of paddock discussion, Reuters projected on Saturday.
