SOCHI, October 11 (RIA Novosti) - The Sochi Autodrome Formula 1 Circuit turned out to be more complicated than expected, the team principal of the Ferrari Formula One team Marco Mattiacci told RIA Novosti Saturday.
"Congratulations to your country, which has been able to build such great sports facilities, the team leaders like it all very much. The track has not been tested yet, but the general conclusion is that it is more complicated than we thought," Mattiacci said.
He noted the long-term relations between Russia and Italy and wished good luck to the Russian driver Daniil Kvyat of the Toro Rosso racing team. "Italy loves Russia, Russia loves Italy," Mattiacci added.
The southern resort city of Sochi is currently hosting Russia's first Formula 1 Grand Prix.
The Sochi Autodrome is 5.854 kilometers (2.637 miles) long and has 12 right turns and six left turns. The maximum speed that can be achieved on the track is expected to be about 320 km/h (199 mph). The Sochi Autodrome can seat 55,000 spectators.
The 2014 Russian Grand Prix, running over 53 laps, or 309.745 kilometers (192.475 miles), takes place in the southern resort city of Sochi from October 10 to October 12.
