DUBAI, October 16 (RIA Novosti) - A suspected Ebola patient was hospitalized in the United Arab Emirates, the country's Ministry of Health said in a statement Thursday.
An UAE citizen arrived in the UAE from Liberia through Morocco, the UAE health authorities reported.
Suspicion among physicians was caused by the patient's diarrhea, which began during the flight. The doctors have already run all the necessary tests and believe that the Ebola virus most likely will not be confirmed, since the isolated patient shows no other symptoms of the disease and has no fever.
The Ebola epidemic broke out in southern Guinea in February, and later spread across West Africa, with cases also having been reported in Spain and the United States. The number of people who have died from the Ebola virus has reached 4,493, while a total of 8,007 cases have been reported, according to WHO.
The Ebola virus is transmitted through direct contact with the bodily fluids of those infected. Though there is no officially approved medication for the disease, several countries are currently working on developing Ebola vaccines.
