Meanwhile Russia, which is the world’s second-largest producer of natural gas, has launched its first auction of natural gas at the St. Petersburg International Mercantile Exchange. Experts say it has all the opportunity to become Europe’s largest natural gas trading post.The project is aimed at creating a more competitive market for natural gas prices, which at present are rather tied to oil.
