WHO Revises Data on Ebola Victims in Sierra Leone

According to the recent WHO estimations, the Ebola death toll in Sierra Leone has risen by 200 people.

MOSCOW, October 30 (RIA Novosti) — The Ebola death toll in Sierra Leone was revised and has risen by 200 people, the World Health Organization announced.

Based on new laboratory tests, the World Health Organization has revised the Ebola death toll in several countries, not taking into account reports of possible Ebola cases. According to the new data, the death toll in Liberia has decreased by 300 people. In contrast, the number of victims in Sierra Leone, increased by 200 people.

According to WHO, a total of 13,703 confirmed, probable, and suspected cases of Ebola virus disease have been reported up to the end of October 27. There have been 4,922 deaths.

The current Ebola epidemic started in southern Guinea in February and later spread to other West African countries, with several Ebola cases reported in Europe and in the United States. The absolute majority of the cases have occurred in Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea.

There is currently no official vaccine for the disease.
