Needing at least 226 votes to win, Yatsenyuk received 341 votes from the lawmakers.
"Honorable Mr. President, you can count on my full support in everything you have just said from this tribune. It is our common responsibility," Yatsenyuk said, addressing Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko prior to his approval.
Early parliamentary elections in Ukraine took place on October 26. Poroshenko's party, the Petro Poroshenko Bloc, won a total of 132 seats, with People's Front, Samopomich, Radical Party, Batkivshchyna and the Opposition Bloc gaining 82, 32, 22, 17 and 27 seats respectively. Five political factions have formed a coalition in Ukraine's parliament, becoming the majority.
Earlier today, Volodymyr Hroisman was elected as parliamentary speaker.
