“The fact that they impose sanctions against an individual, whose work includes normalization of relations with the whole world, and with Europe, shows that the European Union is not interested in such normalization,” Kofman said.
Earlier on Saturday, the European Union has extended its sanctions list by including four candidates who participated in the regional elections in the LPR and the DPR on November 2, including Alexandr Kofman.
Kofman added that the DPR was not planning to sign any agreements with the European Union in the near future.
Kofman said that he has visited Europe a lot of times, but now he is not concerned about the imposed sanctions, because he wants to explore Russia.
“I haven’t seen Siberia or Kamchatka yet. My wish is to visit the Altai region, as well as Lake Baikal, and I will go there as soon as I have some free time,” he said.
On November 17, the foreign affairs ministers of the European Union ordered EU bodies to add more independence supporters from eastern Ukraine to the bloc's sanctions list by the end of the month. The new list included a total of 13 names and five public organizations.
The decision brings the total number of people subject to an EU-wide travel ban and asset freeze for allegedly undermining Ukraine's territorial integrity to 132, and the number of entities whose assets have been ordered frozen to 28. The list features not only leaders of DPR and LPR, but also senior Russian lawmakers and entities.
