MOSCOW, December 1 (Sputnik) – Another violent crime in the US city of St. Louis has triggered new protests, local newspaper St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Sunday.
On early Sunday, a Bosnian man was attacked by at least three teens with hammers. A 32-year-old man suffered injuries to his head, abdomen, face and died later in the day in the local hospital.
On Sunday night, following the killing, over 50 Bosnian nationals blocked several streets in St. Louis to protest against violence.
Protests in St. Louis continue for several months now. The demonstrations began following two fatal shootings of African-American teenagers by white police officers. Eighteen-year-old Michael Brown was shot dead by police officer Darren Wilson in Ferguson in St. Louis County on August 9, and another St. Louis teenager of the same age, Vonderrit Myers, was shot dead by an off-duty white police officer on October 8.
Last week, a Ferguson grand jury decided not to bring charges against Wilson. The controversial decision led to a new wave of protests that swept across 180 US cities in 38 different states.
On Sunday night, St. Louis police Chief Sam Dotson went to the streets and tried to calm the Bosnian protesters down, assuring them that this time the killing did not appear to be motivated by race or ethnicity.
