MOSCOW, December 21 (Sputnik) — Moscow is doing everything in its power to mitigate the death sentence for Russian national Akhlas Akhlaq, convicted for attempting to assassinate former president of Pakistan, Russian Foreign Ministry's Human Rights Ombudsman told RIA Novosti Sunday.
"We have long been working on this situation, all the necessary steps [to mitigate the sentence] are being taken," Konstantin Dolgov said.
