"I have a following position: we must build mutually beneficial partnership with all our neighbors," Zakharchenko said.
Speaking about the political and economic ties with Kiev, Zakharchenko stressed that future relationships will depend largely on the policy of the Ukrainian government.
Following the February coup in Kiev, Luhansk and Donetsk regions refused to recognize the legitimacy of the new Ukrainian government and declared themselves independent people's republics.
In response, Kiev launched a military operation to suppress independence supporters in the southeast of the country.
The warring parties have met twice in September in the framework of the Contact Group on the Ukrainian crisis reconciliation, which resulted in a breakthrough ceasefire agreement. Both sides, however, have repeatedly accused each other of violating the agreement.
Another round of the Contact Group talks is expected to take place in the near future, with the exact date still undetermined.
