MOSCOW, January 3 (Sputnik) — Two people have been confirmed dead and 16 are missing after a cargo ship sunk off the Vietnamese coast, local media reported Saturday.
The Bahamas-flagged Bulk Jupiter ship was on its way from Malaysia to China when it sunk some 150 nautical miles off the coast of Vietnam on Friday.
According to the Vietnamese TuoiTreNews website, rescuers have managed to save one person and found the bodies of two, including the captain, while 16 members of the ship's all-Filipino crew are still unaccounted for.
The vessel's owner, shipping company Gearbulk, said in a statement that the ship left the Malaysian city of Kuantan on December 30 and was carrying some 46,400 tonnes of bauxite.
