MOSCOW, January 5 (Sputnik) — An explosion has occurred at a Houthi base in Sanaa, Yemen's capital, causing damages to the building, Al Jazeera reported Monday.
The attack came just a day after an explosion at the Houthis' regional headquarters in the Yemeni city of Dhamar, some 60 miles south of Sanaa, which killed at least four Houthis and injured dozens.
Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula has claimed responsibility for the Sunday attack.
The Houthis, a Shia insurgent group, has been engaged in continuous fighting with Sunni Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, which intensified in September after the Houthis managed to establish control of Sanaa and advanced into central and western parts of Yemen. The Houthis accuse the incumbent government in Sanaa of discrimination, organizing major rallies and seizing control in parts of the country.
