MOSCOW, January 8 (Sputnik) — French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve dismissed media reports that the gunman who opened fire at two police officers in Porte de Chatillon, southern Paris, has been detained, saying that the man is still on the run.
“The prosecutor of the Republic will join us and we will initiate a public action to immediately identify and catch the perpetrator,” Cazeneuve was quoted as saying by Agence France-Presse.
According to French broadcaster RTL radio, the shooting took place at around 07:00 GMT, when an unknown gunman fired at two police officers, heavily injuring one of them.
RTL reported that investigators are not linking the incident to the attack on the office of Charlie Hebdo magazine in Paris that took place on Wednesday, in which 11 people were injured and 12 people, mostly journalists, were shot dead.
