PARIS, January 8 (Sputnik) – A female police officer who was injured in a shooting near a metro station in the southern Paris suburb Montrouge, has died in a hospital, French BFMTV broadcaster reported Thursday.
The BBC has also reported the officer's death, citing police sources.
Earlier in the day, French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said that the gunman who opened fire at two police officers on Thursday morning is still on the run.
RTL reported that investigators are not linking the incident to the attack on the office of satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo that took place on Wednesday in Paris, in which alleged Islamic extremists killed 12 people and injured 11 others.
