MOSCOW, January 16 (Sputnik) The Southeastern state of Alabama ranks among the top ten in domestic violence-related deaths across the United States, a former Alabama Police Chief said.

"For 3 out of 5 years, Alabama was in the top ten [in domestic violence deaths] and at one point we ranked number two in the nation as far as women who were killed by their partners," Annetta Nunn was quoted as saying by ABC 33/40 local news outlet.

Nunn added that intimate partners were 75 percent more likely to get killed by their ex-partner after leaving the relationship.

On Wednesday, a 2-year old boy died in Alabama, for which the mother’s partner was charged. While American television writer and producer, Victoria Morrow was murdered by her partner on Monday, as reported by the news outlet.

According to the US Federal Bureau of Investigation, women are the most susceptible to domestic violence, with an estimated four women beaten to death by their intimate partner each day, across the country. While about 3 to 4 million women in the United States are beaten by their partner every day.
