MOSCOW, February 1 (Sputnik) — A charity barber shop for the homeless and other people in need is due to open in Vatican City on February 16, according to the Guardian.
The charity is being arranged by Archbishop Konrad Krajewski, who was appointed Papal Almoner in 2013. One of the Archbishop's previous initiatives was to establish showering facilities and toilets for the homeless in the vicinity of St. Peter’s Square, the newspaper adds.
According to Fox News, the barber shop will be open on every Monday, and will be staffed by volunteer barbers who normally don’t work on that day of the week. The service will be offered in the same area as the showers.
The Irish News adds that Archbishop Krajewski came up with this idea after a homeless man complained to him that while it is relatively easy for the destitute to find food in Rome, it is rather problematic for them to find a place to wash themselves or to get a haircut.
