"The EOD [Explosive Ordnance Disposal] team confirms that the explosions near entrance to Paragon [the shopping mall] were caused by two improvised explosives that were placed behind a power transformer," Pol Lt Gen Prawut Thawornsiri, assistant to the chief of Royal Thai Police, tweeted late Sunday night, as quoted by the newspaper.
The rapid transit system of Thailand's capital suspended its service at the nearby station as a safety precaution.
