“Boko Haram must not be allowed to continue brutally terrorizing innocent civilians in Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad and Niger," Harf said on Friday. "We continue to provide support to governments in the region, including through intelligence-sharing, and are increasing our support for those efforts.”
Harf reiterated US support for the Multi-National Joint Task Force, which brings together soldiers from Niger, Chad, and Nigeria.
“We will continue to work with our regional and international partners to make it an effective force,” Harf said.
Cameroon and Chad supported Nigerian operations against Boko Haram earlier this week. The group responded by killing hundreds of people in the Cameroonian town of Fotokol, according to local officials. On Friday, Boko Haram attacked Bosso and Diffa towns in Niger, officials said.
