MOSCOW (Sputnik), Daria Chernyshova — A Dutch senator expressed hope Thursday that the reconciliation deal on Ukraine worked out by the leaders of Ukraine, Germany, Russia, and France in the Belarusian capital of Minsk will help to normalize relations in Europe and end the anti-Russia sanctions.
“I hope this important step forward will also contribute to normalization of the relations in Europe and to an end of sanctions,” member of the Dutch Socialist Party Tiny Kox told Sputnik news agency. “I call on international organizations to restore cooperation between member states, first and foremost the Council of Europe and its Parliamentary Assembly, and to member states to support this.”
On Thursday, the leaders of Ukraine, Germany, Russia, and France worked out a reconciliation deal including 13 points aimed at ending the military confrontation between Kiev forces and independence supporters in eastern Ukraine. The deal includes an unconditional ceasefire coming into force at midnight on February 14-15, urges Kiev to undertake constitutional reform with a focus on Ukraine’s decentralization, as well as stipulates the withdrawal of all foreign armed groups, equipment and mercenaries from Eastern Ukraine under the observation of the OSCE.
