Christina Bond, 55, was repositioning her handgun inside her brassiere, looking down, when she fired a round in her eye, according to new details of an autopsy report published by the Kalamazoo Gazette on Wednesday.
"She was having trouble adjusting her bra holster, couldn't get it to fit the way she wanted it to," said St. Joseph Public Safety Director Mark Clapp. "She was looking down at it and accidentally discharged the weapon."
On the day of the shooting, officers found Bond at her Lake Michigan home with a gunshot wound to the eye. She was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead the following day.
Bond had spent two years in the US Navy after high school and served as an active Military Police for two terms. She was an administrator at Road to Life Church for 15 years and an active member of the Christian Motorcycle Association.
She was elected as a Republican Precinct Delegate for Saint Joseph Charter in the summer.
