ANKARA (Sputnik) – Turkish police detained a man who threatened to detonate a bomb in front of the US Consulate General in Istanbul, the Hurriyet newspaper reported Friday.
Other media reports suggest that the man stood outside the consulate with his hand inside his coat, threatening to detonate explosives in his car parked nearby.
According to media reports, there were no actual explosives found in the vehicle.
The detained man is believed to have mental health issues. He has not been identified yet.
