Western sanctions have not hampered Russia’s cooperation with German and Finnish partners on the construction of the “Zvezda” shipyard, the enterprise’s chief told journalists on Saturday.
“Our German and Finnish partners are working at the shipyard diligently, as they are interested in the job. They have an honored contract and understand that they have to work for the money they receive… We hope they will cooperate with us, as these companies are global leaders,” Yuri Filchenok said.
The “Zvezda” factory, located in Russia’s Far East, is the leading plant for repairing submarines of the Pacific Fleet. It is also the region’s unique engineering complex for fixing, upgrading and modernizing ballistic missile submarines. The shipyard will become operational in 2016. It will build vessels for hydrocarbon exploration in the Arctic.
