Russian opposition leader Boris Nemtsov was killed by unknown assailants in the heart of Moscow. Nemtsov assassination brought with it universal condemnation and prompted President Putin to call on the Interior Ministry to root out “high-profile crimes”.

Boris Nemtsov was mysteriously gunned down just a stone’s throw away from the Kremlin. Russians and foreigners alike united in decrying this savage act of violence, however, they differed over their speculation as to who carried out the murder. While investigation is far from being completed, the West intent to blame the Russian government.

Victor Mizin, Deputy Director, Institute for Strategic Assessment (Moscow), Paul Grenier, an independent writer in the US, who worked for the Pentagon, State Department and World Bank as a Russian interpreter (Washington).

Victor Mizin:

“When the politician is killed – it is a provocation.”

“I would relate Nemtsov’ killing to “a hate crime”.”

“Information wars over political assassinations are tearing society apart.”

Paul Grenier:

“Those who want bad relations with Russia knew who was guilty immediately”
