MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Wednesday, hundreds of members of a left-wing Blockupy activist group gathered in Frankfurt to protest the opening of a new European Central Bank (ECB) headquarters in the city.
"The police will continue to address the behavior of demonstrators appropriately, and if we see it necessary; we will continue to employ anything depending on the development of the situation," press officer said.

The Press and Information Office of Frankfurt also addressed the protesters urging them to refrain from violence.

Earlier on Wednesday, the spokeswoman for Blockupy confirmed to RIA Novosti that several demonstrators had been injured when police had used water cannons and tear gas grenades against them.
Frankfurt police told RIA Novosti they had detained about 350 protesters.
