MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The government of Tunisia convened an extraordinary committee on Wednesday to address the deadly militant attack in the National Bardo Museum in the country’s capital of Tunis, Prime Minister Habib Essid told Sputnik.
Gunmen disguised as the military attacked the parliament building in Tunis, also housing the Bardo Museum, and took some tourists hostage earlier in the day. At least eight tourists were killed in the attack, a spokesman for the country's Interior Ministry, Ali Muhammad Urui, told Sputnik
Habib Essid, who was appointed head of the extraordinary committee, told Sputnik that the first meeting of the committee was currently under way.
President Beji Caid Essebsi is expected to address the nation later on Wednesday.
