Deutsche Lufthansa AG cancelled about half of its long-haul flights, affecting approximately 18 thousand passengers, due to a pilots’ strike protesting the German airline’s attempts to increase the retirement age.
According to the statement made by the company, 42 out of 85 intercontinental flights from Germany would be cancelled on Thursday. The pilots extended their strike until Friday.
Approximately 750 domestic flights were suspended Wednesday, shattering the travel plans of roughly 80,000 passengers.
