Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak, and his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Demchyshyn, take part in the talks chaired by Maroš Šefčovič, EU Vice President for Energy Union.
The talks were preceded earlier in the day by two bilaterals, one between the European Commission and Russia, and the second between the Commission and Ukraine.
Ukraine is currently paying $329 per 1,000 cubic meters as part of a deal, brokered by the European Commission last year to secure gas deliveries to Ukraine during peak winter season.
The agreement, dubbed "winter package," is due to expire on March 31. Russia's Energy Minister Alexander Novak warned earlier in the day that Moscow reserved a right to revive the contractual "take-or-pay" provision past the expiry date.
