PRAGUE (Sputnik) – A US military convoy returned to its home base in Germany after crossing the Czech territory after the end of the drills in the Baltic states, Czech Republican radio reported Wednesday.
According to the report, the convoy left Prague in the morning and returned to its military base of Vilseck in southern Germany later in the day.
The convoy, including 118 Stryker and Humvee (HMMWV) armored combat vehicles, as well as some 520 US servicemen, entered the territory of the Czech Republic by agreement on Sunday.
The passing of a US convoy through the Czech territory triggered a wide range of reaction among the country’s residents, with some cheering the troops and others staging anti-NATO rallies.
Earlier Russia’s Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov criticized the convoy's passage, remarking on “some countries, that cockily demonstrate their strength at Russia’s borders.”
