Earlier in the day, media reported that dozens of foreign troops had disembarked at the Yemeni Aden port hours after Houthi rebels advanced into the southern Yemeni city. A member of Ansar Allah movement, Ahmad Al-Shami, told Sputnik that the foreign soldiers had landed from Saudi and Egyptian ships.

Dozens of Foreign Troops Disembark at Yemeni Aden Port - Reports
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The Saudi-led international coalition, which is currently conducting airstrikes against the Houthi rebels in Yemen, has not deployed ground forces to the war-torn country, the Saudi Arabian Ambassador to the United States said Thursday.

"We don't have formal Saudi troops in Aden. The issue of using ground troops is always on the table, but the decision will be made depending on the circumstances and the need," Adel al-Jubeir said.

Aden was the stronghold of ousted Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi after he had escaped the Houthi-controlled capital of Sanaa in February.

The president fled the country shortly after the coalition began launching airstrikes on March 25.
