Residents of the self-proclaimed People's Republic of Lugansk in eastern Ukraine (LNR) voluntarily have handed over almost 4,000 units of weapons and ammunition, according to reports.

Nearly 4,000 units of weapons and ammunition were voluntarily handed over by residents of the self-proclaimed People's Republic of Lugansk in eastern Ukraine between March 30 and April 3, according Leonid Tkachenko, spokesman for the republic's Prosecutor-General's Office.

"From March 30 to April 3, the residents voluntarily handed over 120,709 cartridges of various calibers, 3,300 grenades for automatic mounted and barrel grenade launchers, 200 grenades, 32 anti-tank mines, one 120-mm mortar, 136 mines of various calibers, 30 hand-held antitank grenade launchers of various modifications, and 42 small arms to the Prosecutor-General's Office, Tkachenko said.

Earlier, the LNR head signed a decree which stipulates that as of April 5, 2015, all armed groups, which were not included in the local people's militias, territorial defense units and law enforcement agencies and which failed to hand over the weapons and ammunition till the end of April 4, will be brought to justice.

A set of measures for a peaceful settlement of the conflict on the territory of Ukraine's Donbass region was reached during the talks in the Belarusian capital Minsk on February 12.

The parties agreed on a ceasefire and the withdrawal of artillery from the frontline of contact, as well as the exchange of prisoners.
