The Scottish National Party (SNP) gained 49 percent in Scotland in a pre-election poll, reaching a highest-ever lead over the Labour party, a poll conducted by YouGov for the Times revealed Friday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The polling data posted on YouGov website also revealed that the Labour showed its worst result with only 25 percent of the voters' support.

New Poll Gives Labour Four-Point Lead Over Tories Ahead of UK Election
The Labour Party lost voter support in Scotland over the course of the September 2014 Scottish independence referendum, diving from 39 percent in June to 27 percent in October 2014, polling data revealed.

The survey stressed that if Scotland’s support for the Labour party remains unchanged during the May election, it is likely to become party’s worst election performance since 1918.

The UK general election is scheduled to take place on May 7. Britain will elect representatives to the House of Commons, the country's lower house of parliament, for the next five years.
