Through the ages, people have always been compellingly drawn by the lure of the glamorous lifestyle of celebrities. Whether it's the night of the Oscars, or gossip in a tabloid. But where is the line between casual fans and obsessed stalkers?

In today's edition of Looking Forward, we explore the social tendency to fixate on celebrities.  What personality traits make people particularly susceptible to celebrity stalker-hood? Is celeb obsession to a large degree intentionally cultivated, with stars and the media exploiting this tendency?

Svetlana Ekimenko and acclaimed Russian writer Victor Erofeyev are joined on the show by Christopher Bell, Assistant Professor of Communication at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs and the author of the book  "American Idolatry: Celebrity, Commodity and Reality Television" to reflect on how celebrity worship fills the void in people's lives.
