MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Senator and Republican presidential candidate Rand Paul said Sunday he would treat his potential Democratic competitor Hillary Clinton with the same respect that he would treat a man.
"I would treat her with the same respect that I would treat a man,” Paul said in an interview with CNN.
“I think that would be a sexist response to say, 'Oh, my goodness, she deserves not to be treated as aggressively, because she's only a woman,’ I would never say that about anybody,” he added.
Paul has in recent weeks been accused of sexism for his behavior during interviews with female journalists.
During an interview with NBC News’ Savannah Guthrie last week, Paul annoyingly interrupted the reporter mid-question. In a similar incident in February, the senator asked CNBC's Kelly Evans to “calm down” as she was conducting the interview.
