WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is the worst federal agency to work for based on morale, leadership and compensation, the US Government Operations Subcommittee Chairman Mark Meadows said in a hearing.
“The Department of Homeland Security rests as the worst place to work among cabinet agencies, and saw its scores drop by nearly three points from 2013,” Meadows said on Thursday.
Meadows argued that the DHS’s leadership should put more efforts into changing the existing employees’ perception.
Two other lowest ranking US federal agencies include the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Labor, according to the 2014 Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey.
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration and the Department of State ranked the highest.
The US Department of Homeland Security was established in 2002 in response to the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States. The Agency’s primary responsibilities include protecting the United States from terrorist attacks and from natural disasters.
