MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Saudi Arabia's King Salman ordered the country’s National Guard to engage in the military operation currently carried out by the anti-Houthi coalition of Arab countries in Yemen, Al Arabiya reported Tuesday.
“Saudi Arabia’s King Salman orders the participation of National Guard forces in #OpDecisiveStorm. #Yemen,” Al Arabiya said in its Twitter blog.
A full-scale civil war is erupting in Yemen over the recent months with the advance of the Houthis, an insurgent group that seized Yemen’s capital Sanaa and forced President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi to flee the country.
Since March 26, upon the request from Hadi, a coalition led by Saudi Arabia has been conducting airstrikes against Yemen’s Houthis.
