The leaders of China and Russia will take part in the most important celebrations of the year — Victory Parades which will be held on May 9 and September 3 in Moscow and Beijing respectively.
“This year marks the 70th anniversary of the Victory in World War against fascism and the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese people in the war of resistance against Japan. Being two important fronts of Asia and Europe, China and Russia will carry out celebrations to jointly protect the results of the Victory in World War II and international justice, which is an important event in Sino-Russian relations and will attract attention from the international community,” His Excellency Li Hui said.
He added that 70 years ago the people of Russia and China faced serious aggression from the fascists and experienced the most severe hardships and greatest losses. In turn, China and Russia made their historically important contribution to the victory in the global war against fascism.
“We strongly oppose any attempts to falsify the history of the Second World War, the aim of which is to disrupt the postwar world order,” His Excellency said.
He continued by saying that with these celebrations, they call on all people to strive for peace and to resolutely defend it to avoid the repetition of historical tragedies and to defend the bounties of victory in World War II.
According to him such countries vainly try to blur the line between truth and lies, the aggression issue gets labeled as the struggle for justice, and war criminals are made heroes. This causes pain and terror in the hearts of the people.
"Special attention should be paid to the fact that in recent years the situation has been steadily intensifying. The position of such figures is becoming increasingly fierce, which makes peace-loving forces of the world strengthen their vigilance."
Regarding relations between Russia and China, His Excellency said that Sino-Russian relations are currently experiencing the best period in the history of their development. The prominent features of Sino-Russian relations are nonalignment, the absence of confrontation as well as the rejection of the dividing lines of ideological principles.
This year will see a number of joint activities between Chinese and Russian leaders. They will be seen during the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Victory in World War II. In addition, the leaders will meet during the BRICS summit, SCO, G20 and APEC. The heads of both governments will also collaborate during the Sino-Russian commission on energy, humanitarian and investment cooperation.
