WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The airstrikes are a part of Operation Inherent Resolve, whose goal is to eliminate the Islamic State and the threat it poses to Iraq, Syria and the rest of the world.
“In Syria, Coalition military forces conducted 11 airstrikes using attack, bomber, fighter, and remotely piloted aircraft,” CENTCOM reported. “Separately in Iraq, Coalition military forces conducted seven airstrikes.”
Airstrikes in Syria eliminated two ISIL tactical units, two fighting positions and an excavator near Al Hasakah; a tactical unit and a vehicle near Dayr Az Zawr; and three ISIL tactical units, seven fighting positions, and a vehicle near Kobani.
In Iraq, airstrikes destroyed an ISIL tactical unit and two fighting positions near Bayji; a tactical unit and a fighting position near Fallujah; a defensive position near Mosul; two tactical units, a fighting position and a resupply cache near Ramadi; and a tactical unit and a vehicle near Tal Afar.
