Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet with Chinese leader Xi Jinping on May 8 to discuss various issues, including possible cooperation in the oil and gas sector.
“[Xi Jinping’s] Visit includes talks in various format and the joint signing of documents. At the moment, there is about 40 of them,” Ushakov said.
Putin will also hold a working breakfast with German Chancellor Angela Merkel on May 9. The event will focus mainly on the situation in Ukraine.
Russia has invited a number of world leaders to attend the May 9 Victory Parade in Moscow in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany.
This year's event will be the biggest Russian military parade ever held. About 16,500 servicemen, almost 200 units of military equipment and some 140 helicopters and planes will participate in the celebration, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.
