LONDON (Sputnik) – The Scottish National Party has even managed to win in Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath, which the Labour hoped to retain as the old seat of Gordon Brown. Moreover, SNP won East Renfrewshire from the leader of the Scottish Labour Party Jim Murphy.
Scottish nationalists lost just three seats to other parties — one to the Labour, one to the Conservatives, and one to the Liberal Democrats.
In the previous British parliament, the SNP had only six seats.
The party believes it was its opposition to austerity that has made it so popular in the United Kingdom.
