MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Two Chinese Navy warships took part in a Victory Day parade in the Russian southern seaport of Novorossiysk, the Russian Defense Ministry's press service said Saturday.
It was for the first time that Chinese warships entered Novorossiysk as the city hosted a military parade to mark 70 years of Nazi Germany's defeat in 1945.
The two Jiangkai II-class frigates are scheduled to leave the Black Sea port on Tuesday to hold joint exercises with Russian warships in the Mediterranean Sea on May 16-21, according to earlier statements.
Chinese leader Xi Jinping watched on as Chinese servicemen marched through Moscow's historic Red Square as part of the military parade in the Russian capital on Saturday morning.
