Police have since arrested one of the suspected gunman, who was reportedly one of the injured, according to the newspaper.
The second suspect has fled the scene in a white sedan, the daily reported.
Police asked the students and staff of the university to remain in place and cordoned off the area. The lockdown was lifted after approximately two hours.
The shooting comes nearly two weeks before the anniversary of a deadly May 23, 2014, attack in Isla Vista, a community in Santa Barbara Country, California. The assault was committed by spree killer Elliot Rodger near the campus of University of California. The man first stabbed to death three men in his apartment. Shortly afterward, he shot three female students outside, killing two, before committing suicide.
